Where does the name " Taiga" come from?

Taiga the wolfThe name "Taiga" is to honour the wolf who for fourteen years illuminated our lives and was our companion and brother, keeping us connected to the rhythms and beauty of the natural world. His name is that of his birthplace, the transition zone between the boreal forest and the tundra. Throughout his life his regal bearing, his passion to explore and learn and his gentle nature made him an ambassador   for his species for the hundreds of people who met him. His spirit is an inspiration and a continuing guide.

WELCOME TO THE TAIGA ECO EXPERIENCE

Towering majestically above the forest observing the spectacular panorama, Taiga Ventures Arts and Eco Experience, a Conference, Retreat and Arts centre is unique in the world.  The beauty of the natural forest setting, the wildlife, and the magnificent, triangular wooden structure unite to provide a perfect setting for your event.

The Grotto is so named because of the huge trees that extend from a subterranean pool beneath the pine floor and support the structure.  It features a wall of floor to ceiling windows providing clarity, not only to the room but also to the mind and spirit.

Built to address the issues arising from environmental and multiple chemical sensitivities, Taiga Ventures is totally off grid, using solar and wind energy.  No chemicals were used in the construction or maintenance of the building.  It is strictly a chemical and scent-free venue.  NO PERFUMES OR LOTIONS PLEASE.  Enjoy the aromas of nature.

We have no accomodations on site but will provide links to local motels, hotels, and B&Bs.  We can also provide shuttles to and from Taiga.

Our concerts feature outstanding, professional solo and chamber musicians performing on acoustic instruments.

Just 35 minutes from Thunder Bay's Downtown, you will find us:  off the grid and off the beaten path.  Escape from the daily grind and find a sanctuary outside of the rigid world.  Within minutes, you will find that tension in your shoulders and jaw is beginning to vanish.  As the landscape, the wildlife and the rustic environment reach out to you, you will find that you are reaching out to yourself.
